That's One Giant Sandwhich

MMM...Doesn't that look so good?  Let me tell you it was DELICIOUS!! This giant sandwhich, along with a giant bowl of fruit salad was our yummy dinner tonight.
While JBody was in chiropractic school, we would go to his sister's house on the weekends for dinner.  This is where she introduced us to this huge sandwhich. I have only made it one other time.  It was a couple years ago and I had completely forgotten about it.
To make this for yourself you will need:
8-inch round loaf of bread
 horseradish
1/2 lb. thinly sliced cooked roast beef
prepared mustard
1/2 lb. thinly sliced cooked ham or turkey
4 slices Swiss cheese
2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
1 small tomato
6 bacon strips, cooked
4 slices American cheese
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1/4 cup butter, melted (I didn't use this much)
sesame seeds
onion salt

Look at all those yummy layers...

1. Slice bread horizontally into 4-equal layers. Spread bottom layer with mayo and horseradish; top with roast beef.  Spread mayo on bottom of next slice of bread.  Place the next slice of bread over beef; spread with mayo and mustard and top with ham or turkey & Swiss cheese. Spread more mayo on bottom of next slice of bread. Add the next slice of bread; spread with mayonnaise and top with tomato, bacon, onion and
American cheese. Spread mayo on last slice of bread and cover. Combine butter, sesame seeds, and onion salt; brush over top and sides of loaf. Place on a baking sheet; loosely tent with heavy-duty foil.

2. Bake at 400 for 20 minutes or until heated through.

Cooking Tip: We like to saute the onions before putting them on the sandwich.  The meat takes a long to time to warm through while baking-- I like to warm it up a little before making the sandwich.

Just because it is so yummy looking.  I added another picture for you!

Strawberry Shortcake Pedicure

For Christmas Lil' E got Razy her own set of Strawberry Shortcake nail polishes.  She loves them and the lip glosses that came with them.  They are fun colors and even had a faint fruity scent to them. They are like all little girl polishes that chip off very easily, but she loves them and that is all that matters.
Razy asked to get her finger nails and her toe nails done today.  I am reluctant to do this most days because she just picks it off.  After she got her own little pedicure by mommy, she asked if she could do mine.  This was the first time she has ever asked.  I knew that they would turn out pretty messy, but said yes anyways.
She was very careful not to get it all over the place and actually tried to wipe the edges off with a wet wipe.  She even had a little patter-ern  going on.
patter-ern= her word for pattern.

Sunday Night Popcorn and AFV

The kids love watching American Funniest Videos and Daddy loves Sunday night treats.  Usually we do caramel popcorn or rice krispy treats. Tonight after making 2 16 inch cakes for an upcoming Blue & Gold Banquet I wasn't too thrilled to have to make something else.  Where  did I turn to?  Pinterest of course. I found a mixture of our two favorite easy treats.
Marshmallow Caramel Poporn
Popped popcorn- 3/4 cup kernels or 3 bags microwave popcorn
2 sticks butter
1 cup brown sugar
16oz bag of marshmallows
Melt butter, brown sugar, and marshmallows on the stovetop or microwave until a creamy sauce.
Pour over popcorn and enjoy!

Do you watch AFV?  I remember watching it every sunday as a kid.  It is so fun to see the reactions of our kids.  It is so much funnier to watch it with them than by yourself.

Candy Free Valentine Ideas

This year for Valentine's Day we I decided to go candy free.  The kids didn't put up a fight about it either.  It was probably due to the great ideas we found on pinterest.  There were so many to choose from.  We were able to try out a few different ones since they each had to have something different.  If you still haven't got your Valentine's for tomorrow no fear.  These ones were super easy and actually really cheap!
Valentine Bookmarks
Razy and Doble made these for their preschool class.  I went to home depot and got paint sample cards and cut them down to 2 inches.  Then I added ribbon that I already had on hand and wrote "Happy Valentine's Day! Love," Then they wrote their name.
COST: FREE!

Have a Ball
Lil' E took these to school and Doble brought them for Joy School.  We found the popper balls in the dollar section at walmart.  They came in a pack of 12 for $1.  I bought 3 packs and then bought a package of the small treat bags also from walmart in the cake/wedding section.  I then made a card that said "Have a BALL this Valentine's Day! xoxo" Then they wrote their name.
Cost: 3 bags of balls $3 and 50 treat bags for 97 cents.  Total: $3.97 for 36

I CEREALsly Like you!
Razy brought these for Joy School.  We bought a pack of the individual sized boxes of cereal and spoons and tied them all together and wrote, "I CEREALsly Like You! xoxo"  She then wrote her name. These were a little more spendy but she only has 8 in her class.
Cost: $3.97 for a pack of 8 cereal boxes.  97 cents for a set of 8 pink spoons.  Total: $4.94 for 8

I was "Soapin"
We made these for the kids teacher and Lil' E's bus driver.  They are soaps with a tag that read "I was "soapin" you'd be my Valentine! xoxo.  They then wrote their name.
COST: 97cents for the soap at walmart. Total: $4.85 for 5 teacher gifts.

So there you have it.  Aren't they cute.  I think the sure do beat those boxes of valentine cards that cost you about $2.50 for a box of 24.  Especially if you do the ball idea.  It comes out to the same price and they are much cuter.  What were your Valentine ideas this year?
