Flashback Friday

ROOMMATES
I just found a few pictures of college life. These are all pre-marriage (although I was engaged). I won't lie to you roommate life was not always bliss. It is really hard for 6 girls to share a home with eachother. I mean come on, we all know that girls can be emotional, mean, and jealous. But we did have our good moments as well. Remember the time we played that great practical joke on the boys late at night? Or Alice do you remember going over to freak JBody out at his dorm?

A Jamie Original

Yesterday we went to the mailbox and there was a package in the mail. I knew that a friend of mine said that she wanted to make a dress for Razy, but didn't think it would get here SOOO fast. We love the result. JBody even gave his two thumbs up. Thank you Jamie. It is perfect. I still think that you really should go into business. They are adorable. Yeah we have a Jamie Original. Go check out some of the other dresses she has made.

I already know that I have a problem with taking WAY to many pictures. And then it is really hard to decide which ones to post. Oh well you get to see alot.

TACKLE it TUESDAY!!

I know that it is Wednesday and I didn't post my Tackle it Tuesday. Things were a bit crazy yesterday. I started out thinking I would tackle my stove drip pans. They were nice and grimy. JBody told me I should just go and buy some new ones, but I really thought that I could clean them up nicely. I was so excited after I finished the first one. It was all clean and shiny. Almost like new. The other three weren't as easy. They do look better, but not like I wanted them to look.

Then I decided to move on into the boys' room. It has been long over due for a sortment of clothes. I was able to organize the closet with colored hangers. Lil' E has all his clothes hanging on blue hangers and Doble has the white hangers. I put away clothes thta no longer fit them both, and pulled out ones that they can now wear. I did the same thing with their clothes in their drawers. However, I still don't feel finished. That project took me all day and I still have more to finish.
During my tackles, JBody asked me to do some looking around at prices for car batteries and some other things. So my focus got a bit distracted.

I can say that I was able to get one thing tackled completely. My sister asked me to fill out some questions for her. I will be honest I have been dreading them because they are ones that take some thought and I wanted them to be just right. The following are the questions she asked me to fill out. I thought about putting my answers down. Maybe another time. Right now I feel that they are too personal and just between my sister and I.

The above name student is taking a class entitled "Principles of Inner Victory." They have been asked to identify someone with whom they have a relationship of trust, and invite them to participate in an assignment for the class. The objective of this assignment is to help the person get to know themselves better from the perspective of and through the eyes of another person. You have been identified as such a person. Please take fifteen to thirty minutes to assist this person in completing the assignment by writing a few paragraphs in response to some or all of the questions below. Be objective and positive as well as honest in your suggestions for their potential improvement (please include number 5 and 6 in your response). Also, please note the date by which you need to return this to the student so that their assignment can be completed in a timely fashion.Thank you for your willingness to help this student.

Questions:
1. When you think of this person, what is their single most significant positive character trait?

2. If you were commissioned to write a book (novel) with an objective to help others find meaning in their life with the above name person as a character, what role would you cast them in? What message would their life bring to the reader? What positive characteristics would you want to accentuate as you cast this person?
3. Imagine that you are given a task to provide employment placement services for the above named individual, wherein you will evaluate all of their strengths and place them in a career or position to have the most positive affect upon the lives of others. What are their three most significant traits? In what area of the workplace do you feel they will grow personally, be able to contribute, and be able to utilize their greatest strengths?

4. Looking to the future when most all of us must leave this mortal existence, if you were to design a headstone to be placed at their grave upon their death some 60 years from now, what inscription or epitaph would you include on the marker for future generations to remember? Why?

5. Given all their strengths, can you think of one area where this person might focus attention and energy to improve themselves and become even a better person?

6. What advice would you give this person as they seek a happy and joyful life personally, professionally, etc.
Could you also please include 10 qualities about me. This is for another assignment! Thanks!(I have included the answers for this so you could see what type of wonderful person my sister is.)
1. Integrity: Trustworthy and Honest
2. Caring
3. Responsible
4. Fair
5. Respectful
6. Virtuous
7. Approachable, Likeable
8. Empathetic

My Family Monday *Follow the Prophet*

Once again JBody is in charge of Family Home Evening. I don't know exactly what or how he is going to do his lesson but the following is what I do know.
picture from desertnews.com

Opening Song: "Follow the Prophet" (Children's Songbook #110)

Opening Prayer:

Lesson: The lesson is on following the Prophet.
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are blessed to be led by living prophets—inspired men called to speak for the Lord, as did Moses, Isaiah, Peter, Paul, Nephi, Mormon, and other prophets of the scriptures. We sustain the President of the Church as prophet, seer, and revelator—the only person on the earth who receives revelation to guide the entire Church. We also sustain the counselors in the First Presidency and the members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators.

Like the prophets of old, prophets today testify of Jesus Christ and teach His gospel. They make known God's will and true character. They speak boldly and clearly, denouncing sin and warning of its consequences. At times, they may be inspired to prophesy of future events for our benefit.

We can always trust the living prophets. Their teachings reflect the will of the Lord, who declared: "What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same" (D&C 1:38).

Our greatest safety lies in strictly following the word of the Lord given through His prophets, particularly the current President of the Church. The Lord warns that those who ignore the words of the living prophets will fall (see D&C 1:14–16). He promises great blessings to those who follow the President of the Church:

"Thou shalt give heed unto all his words and commandments which he shall give unto you as he receiveth them, walking in all holiness before me;

"For his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth, in all patience and faith.

"For by doing these things the gates of hell shall not prevail against you; yea, and the Lord God will disperse the powers of darkness from before you, and cause the heavens to shake for your good, and his name's glory" (D&C 21:4–6).

—See True to the Faith (2004), 129–30 (This information is from lds.org for your references)

Activity: President Monson Says. Played just like Simon says, but using President Monson's name instead and using things that he teaches us.

Closing Song: "Latter-day Prophets" (Children's Songbook #134)
Closing Prayer:

A Wonderful Weekend

The much waited and anticipated weekend for JBody and I has come and gone. All I can say is wow. We had so much fun. We left friday afternoon to head to the big city with our friends, Jason and April. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed a nice drive and ferry ride to our hotel destination. We stayed at the Sheraton. Our hotel was the perfect location for everything. We were able to walk to dinner, shops, the show and even The Cheesecake Factory for a yummy dessert after the show. After checking into the hotel we walked the couple of blocks it took to get to Benihana's. JBody and I had never been and we absolutely loved it. For those of you who have never been it is a Japanese restaurant. Each table has their own personal chef. Our chef's name was Manual. He was fun and entertaining. He made the dining experience and food well worth the price. For dinner we enjoyed some really good, veggies, rice, calamari, lobster, shrimp, chicken, and filet mignon. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. After a great dinner we strolled around the city and did a little shopping at Old Navy. Then it was off to the show.

AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING

The Lion King was all I expected and more. I am still in amazement. I don't even know what to say except for YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE IT. There is something so magical about great broadways. I would be the worst person to give a review because all I can say is WOW. The costumes, the music, the cast, the interaction, everything was amazing. I think that Lil' E would have really liked it as well, but I did love just being able to spend the weekend with JBody, alone, with nothing to worry about. Thanks mom for watching the kids and making that possible.

Bad picture. My camera either took a really unfocused or really dark picture.

Right before the show. Can you tell how excited I am. CHEESY!!

Jason and April

After the great show we walked over to The Cheesecake Factory and got a slice of cheesecake mmm. The next morning JBody and I walked around the city for a while and enjoyed some hot cocoa. We then met back up with Jason and April and went back to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch.

Before heading home we went to the temple. What better way to end a wonderful weekend than to go to the House of the Lord and spend some time with my eternal companion. It was bittersweet to head home, but this weekend was wonderful.

Flashback Friday

Today's Flashback Friday is a picture of JBody and his famiy. Can you guess which one is him? He is the cute little dimpled boy sitting in the front with a red shirt on. JBody is the youngest of 6 kids. His mom looks so young in this picture. Doesn't she look beautiful. She looks great for having 6 children. For those of you who thought Lil' E looks exactly like his daddy, here is more proof that he sure does.

TACKLE it TUESDAY!!

Today's tackle has actually been done for awhile. However, I just never got around to getting pictures taken and I needed to get Razy's room cleaned up so I could take the pictures. I am so excited about having it done. I think that it turned out really cute.
Today's Tackle...
RAZY'S NOOK
This is a piece that my parents gave to me when they gave me my cedar hope chest. We painted it to go with Razy's room colors: Pink and Green
This bookshelf is actually pressed partical board. It was white, but I painted the outside pink with the tinkerbell green in the inside to match the shelf above it.
I was not a fan of the mahogany wood all over the walls and ceilings. However, I think it goes with her room. It is just a matter of what to do with the rest of the upstairs. Our room, the boys' room, the bathroom, and the hall are all done in mahogany. At least it is real wood and not the cheap panaling. I think I would have a harder time getting used to it.
JBody's sister gave us this dresser. Someone made it and gave it to her. It was unstained wood so we just slapped on some pink and green and viola a little girls dresser. Cute if I do say so myself.
The top of her dresser has a princess snowglobe I recieved for a graduation present, a little girl looking at a sleeping baby fairy with another fairy telling her to be quiet; gift from my mom, and a fairy on a tree branch; a gift given to Razy from my Aunt Mary. Can you tell what the theme of her room is yet?
I thought I would through in a picture of the cute TUTU I won from FairyWonderful. I love it. I need to get a picture of her in it. She like to wear it and spin circles with it on.
I bought this picture at the Victorian Christmas this past Christmas. I forgot I had it until yesterday actually. I thought it went perfect in her Fairy room.
You can't really tell what her bedding is here, but it is pink with dragonflies on it. She has one of those soft minky dot pillows and her blankie that she has to sleep with as well.

I know that I need to post some other pictures of the house, but this is a start. Hope you like. I know I love it. It is probably my favorite room in the house. It is so small, but perfect for a little girl.

My Family Monday
*Following the Footsteps of Jesus*

This week for Family Home Evening we are going to talk about Jesus Christ and how we can follow in his footsteps. This lesson has been taken from a great site called The Family Home Evening Spot. I have a feeling that we will be doing alot of lessons from this site.

Opening Song: "I'm trying to be like Jesus" (Childrens Song Book #78)
Opening Prayer: Lil' E
Lesson: Mommy

Following the footsteps of Jesus:
Print out some footprints on paper. Stick them on the floor in a line. Next to each set of footprints lay a picture from the Gospel art Picture Kit. (You can find them here if you don't have them at home: Baby Jesus, Boyhood of Jesus, Baptism of Jesus, Jesus Healing, Jesus Praying, Jesus on the Cross, Jesus in Heaven ) You will make about 8 steps. In order, lay a picture of Jesus as a baby, As a child with Joseph, getting baptised, healing the sick, Praying,On the Cross, and Asending into heaven. Have each child walk on the footsteps. At each stage say " As Jesus was born, so were you", "Jesus was a child, as you are too" "Jesus was baptised and you will be too when you are 8", "Jesus helped the sick and you will too in your life", "Jesus Prays just like you", "Jesus died and one day you will too", "Jesus went to heaven to be with heavenly father and one day you will too". At the end of the footsteps I had a plate of treats to be their reward in heaven for making it through the footsteps of life.
Closing Song: “If The Savior Stood Beside Me" (Sally Deford)
Closing Prayer: Daddy
Treat: Sugar Cookies with footprints on them to be waiting at the end of the step walk

What Happened Wednesday!

Yes I know that I said I would post what took place on Wednesday on Thursday, but things have been so crazy fun that I had to wait till now to post. So here it goes.

It started out like any normal day, getting the kids dressed and out the door for preschool. I got home and laid Razy down for a nap. This is where I should have known my day would be a day I would get NOTHING DONE. I made a phone call and 157 minutes later I hung up (no this wasn't meant to be a long call) I got the kids ready really fast to pick Lil' E up from school. Came home and started to take pictures. I wanted to take a picture that I could put inside a book that we had bought JBody for Valentine's Day. One of those board books that plays music and all. It is really cute. Here are a few from the photo shoot.

I had to pull out the candy to get them to all look at me and be smiling.

I took a break after these pictures and went into the playroom/computer room to see if I could print one out that would work. We are redoing this room, so we have a gate up to keep the kids out. However, they all decided to follow me in. Lil' E and Doble jumped the gate. I finished up and walked out. The boys followed. Doble got stuck so Lil' E took the gate down for him. I didn't really think anything of it. We then went back to taking pictures.

Not great, but this is the one we chose.

Just as I finished printing this picture out, Razy started to cry. I turned around and saw my little girl in a mess of....

Not the first look, but I was in too much shock and yes upset to get pictures right off the bat. I scooped up a little over a half gallon back into the can. She just had to be in one of my favorite outfits. Dang it. I really tried to get it out. I even got my hopes up after hearing that hand sanitizer would get it out. But after hours of scrubbing I had no luck. Bummer. If you have suggestions please share. I just can't throw them away yet.

Well there wasn't a whole lot to get upset over. A huge huge mess, but we were planning on ripping the ugly blue carpet out and put in wood laminate in. I wanted to pull the carpet up to make sure it wasn't soaking through the pad and warping the floor underneath. We always knew that there was a chance that we could have good hardwood underneath. When I pulled the carpet up this is what I found....

You can even see a sneak peak of the new colors we have chosen for the room

JBody is thinking that we may be able to have a flooring specialist come in and restore the floor for a better price than laying new floor on top.

I will admit I was stressed about the whole thing. Razy was crying and covered in paint, the boys wanted to eat, and I needed to be cleaning my house and preparing my talk for church. I didn't really want to be cleaning paint up, and a lot of it.

I finally headed to bed at about midnight after trying to salvage Razy's clothes. I went in to make sure Razy was covered and smelled death. She had thrown up all over the place and fallen back to sleep. I woke JBody up to help me change her bed and give her a bath. We put her back to bed and JBody went back to sleep. I stayed up trying to clean up her bedding. I had to take apart her blanket to get the yuckiness out of it. It is one of those tied blankets, so I had to undo each tie to be completely cleaned. I headed up to bed an hour later.

I went in to check on Razy again. She was wide awake and standing up so I picked her up.

BLAH!!! Here mommy present for you.

Now the two of us get in the shower. I chose not to wake JBody up again. No point on the two of us being awake.

We finished with the shower and I turned on a movie. There was no way I could fall asleep. Well Razy is not one to fall asleep in your lap, but she didn't want to be in her bed. She wanted to be held, and asleep, just not the two together. At about 3:30 I laid down with her on the Love Sac. She finally fell asleep....

ONLY FOR 20 MINS

I had to sleep and so did she. I laid her in her bed and after about 2 mins of crying she and I were asleep. 4 hours later we were up and ready for a new day.

Since then I have made a sign for a friend, gone to bed past midnight again, prepared a talk and dealt with a little one who instead of throwing up has decided that every time she eats she needs a diaper change. I really should go to bed...I'm pooped.
